AGUSTÍN BARRIOS IN TABLATURE

Seven of His Greatest Works Transcribed with Guitar Tablature
"As a guitarist/composer, Barrios is the best of the lot, regardless of era. His music is better formed, it's more poetic, it's more everything! And it's more of all those things in a timeless way."
~ Guitarists, John Williams

Agustín Barrios (1885–1944) is regarded by many as one of the greatest composers and performers in the history of the classical guitar. His music remains a cornerstone of the guitar repertoire and continues to inspire players throughout the world.

This collection contains seven of Barrios’s most celebrated works, presented in guitar tablature with corresponding standard notation editions included. All of the pieces in this volume are part of the editor’s personal concert repertoire and have been carefully prepared with special attention given to string designations, fingerings, and barre markings.

A unique feature of this edition is its emphasis on practical performance fingerings. Through extensive study of recordings and performances by leading concert artists, many of the fingering solutions presented here reflect approaches used by world-class performers but often omitted from commercially available editions.

Particular attention has been given to passages where multiple performance traditions exist, with explanatory footnotes provided where appropriate. Included is the remarkable arpeggio and scale passage from Un Sueño en la Floresta, featuring both the left- and right-hand fingerings used by Agustín Barrios himself, taken directly from his historic recording of the work.

Whether used for study, performance, or repertoire development, this collection offers guitarists a carefully researched and performance-oriented edition of some of Barrios’s finest music.
